Elaine Labson

Health Equity Director

Elaine Galiza Barut Labson (She/Her) was born and raised in Stockton, California. She is a Pinay, a first-generation college student who graduated in 2016 from Sacramento State where she earned her Health Science degree with an emphasis in Community Health Education. Since then, Elaine was given the opportunity to return home and work for Little Manila Rising (LMR) with the intent of approaching their existing work and applying new strategies through the lens of Public Health. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Health degree at her alma mater and is grateful to be a part of their first cohort of the program #STINGERSUP.

Working as the Health Equity Director, Elaine handles operations surrounding the implementations of LMR’s programs at the intersections of public health and environmental justice. Elaine has worked on initiatives like California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) Stockton Environmental Justice Initiative, Dr. Dawn Mabalon Asthma Initiative and D.A.W.N. - Decreasing Asthma Within Neighborhoods. Her love for the community and drive for positive change motivates her to empower and uplift youth in Stockton. Her service to Stockton youth goes beyond Little Manila as she co-leads St. George’s Youth Group for over 10 years in beautiful South Stockton.

Elaine loves cooking, yoga, roller skating, music, hiking, and is blessed to navigate the world with her husband, Jerel and dog, Domino.
