Nicolas Tamayo
Urban forestry dIRECTOR
Nicolas Tamayo is from Sacramento, Ca. He is an urban forester, avid gardener and program director for Little Manila Rising (LMR). Nicolas developed his passion for land stewardship and working with plants and community while working at the Student Farm at UC Davis. Now in his current role at LMR as Urban Forestry Director, Nicolas and the Urban Forestry Program team are building a community based reforestation effort in South Stockton, with the primary goals of planting 1000+ trees in collaboration with Stockton Public Works. He is also piloting a curriculum and urban forestry training program that trains adult members of the community in arboriculture, tree biology, soil testing, and the sociopolitical history of South Stockton that has resulted in the highest asthma rates, some of the worst air quality, and criminally under canopied neighborhoods in Stockton and the North Central Valley alike. He is currently working toward attaining his I.S.A credential as a certified arborist.
