Rain Romeo

Healing puso program assistant

Rain Romeo is a 3rd generation Filipino-American born in Paranaque, Philippines and migrated to Stockton, California with her family at 4 months old. She was raised in Southside Stockton and has witnessed the inequity and remnants of redlining that inspired her to be involved with social justice.

When she entered Edison High School in 2018, she became familiarized with Little Manila Rising and had joined their dance collective, after school program, and advocate cohorts which equipped her with the platform to be involved in fostering equitable solutions and promoting awareness towards Immigration Rights & Protections and Environmental Justice.

During the pandemic from 2020-2023, she underwent an identity crisis, burnout, and critical stress that had affected her physical health. This is due to self-neglect from lack of resources, accessibility, and knowledge about mental health; this had sparked her interest in pursuing the mental health field.

Currently, she is a college student majoring in Social Work and asserting her passion for mental health and community change to be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She aims to destigmatize mental health, promote wellness, and reduce disparities rooted in Southside Stockton. As the Program Assistant, she is looking forward to providing culturally competent services to accommodate Stockton's diversity. Additionally, she is excited to implement affordable and accessible mental health resources to help heal and uplift the community.
